Making a world of difference

On the 21st of September 2010 all InterContinental Hotels & Resorts were invited to celebrate the work that they were already doing to support their local area, by taking part in an activity on that day. The activity could be an initiative to enhance their location, such as cleaning a local park, or something to support the local community.

No beers or crisps were consumed during the creation of this promotion at LAW Creative.

New brand imagery and colour palette for ‘Restaurant. Eat Fresh. Refresh’ seek to not only reflect House of Fraser’s own brand, but also to provide a seamless connection between fashion and food. Colourful graphics, directional signage, in restaurant menus, mobiles, shelf edge labeling and information are all part of the new look. Everyone is hoping that the bright and fashionable new branding with lines like ‘Love Our New Collection’ and ‘Must Haves!’ together with great food and service will encourage more shoppers to enjoy a ‘half time’ break in the Restaurant.

The LAW Creative Harvest brand used to store customer data and create and broadcast e-marketing campaigns was complimented by The Rt Hon Peter Lilley MP during a facility visit to the Agency in December.

True food arrives at Scottsdale Quarter

The new Scottsdale Quarter has opened with an upscale Beverley Hills inspired plethora of bars, restaurants and stores previously unseen in Scottsdale, the West’s most Western town.

Apple, Nike and the amazing Ipic Theatre www.iPictheatres.com  stand sentinel over a host of inspired restaurants, such as my new favourite, True Food Kitchen.

True Food Kitchen offers globally inspired cuisine with a menu based on a balanced approach for optimal health.  The entire menu is centred around the principles of Dr Andrew Weil’s anti-inflammatory diet and food pyramid.  Much of the menu is gluten free and includes an outstanding choice of vegan and vegetarian options.

True Food Kitchen’s simple, fresh and pure menu takes the open kitchen concept to another level with cooks and ingredients right there in the midst of the patrons. This bustling modern setting makes health food hip!

I can only describe my dining experience as guilt-free indulgence. A delicious turkey burger with provolone lettuce, tomato, avocado, mayo and flax seed bun.  Washed down with a creative elixir of Red Moon … grapefruit, yuzu, agave and soda!

The menu ingredients, the majority of which are locally or regionally sourced, offer a culinary off-piste adventure to delight the eye and amaze the palette.

And next time you can put me down to try the Wild Ahi Sliders with radish, avocado, cucumber and wasabi aioli or the Squash and Ricotta Ravioli with kale and maitake mushroom soy broth!!!

True Food Kitchen delivers an inherent commitment to healthy eating and locally sourced quality ingredients.  These things are centric to its whole philosophy as opposed to the usual ‘nod and wink’ to healthier eating.

Mad Men

Katie is proud to be a Mad Man!

Katie Douse, Head of Design at LAW Creative, has finally caught up and become totally engrossed in the critically acclaimed US drama Mad Men.

“Expected to return for a brand new season in 2012, Matthew Weiner’s world of advertising on Madison Avenue in postwar-to-late-Sixties New York captures brilliantly how the world of advertising began to evolve.

The series entwines real-life ad campaigns, with heavy influence from the likes of the original Mad Man, the eccentric advertising guru David Ogilvy, alongside gritty drama, social and political evolution and plenty of personal scandal and romance surrounding the show’s main characters.

The series is a fascinating insight into the history of what we do, and still has so much relevance today. Well... minus the liquid lunches, obligatory cigarettes and endless glasses of whisky in the boardroom...

So, currently being obsessed with all things Mad Men, it was only a matter of time before I discovered AMC’s
fantastic application, ‘madmenyourself’. Whether you’re a fan yet or not, try giving yourself a retro Madison Avenue makeover. Choose from sharp suits and tennis club high fashion, Marilyn-esque curves and gravity defying hairdos, or perhaps art department geek-chic with horn rimmed specs and tank tops.

If only getting ready for work everyday was this easy!”


PAC-MAN and Snoopy arrive at LAW


So popular was the special edition LAW Creative ‘Woodstock’ Moleskine notebook that it has been closely followed by a ‘Celebrating 60 years of Peanuts’ version.

The legendary creator of Peanuts, Charles M. Schulz drew 17,897 strips during a 50 year period. Charlie Brown became the epitome of the biggest loser. But after gaining a place in the hearts of us all and enjoying a 60 year career, maybe being a loser isn’t always a bad thing! Snoopy, Charlie’s pet beagle went on to become one of the most recognisable comic characters in the world and is featured on the notebook covers.

The notebooks also feature a Peanut’s family tree and stickers including quotes by Sally “If a person has a nice smile, nothing else matters” and other Peanuts characters.

In addition to the Peanuts notebooks LAW is also giving clients a 30th Anniversary PAC-MAN version. This global phenomenon of a simple yellow character munching his way through a maze of dots whilst trying to avoid being eaten by ghosts is quite simply iconic. Even Google recently launched a PAC-MAN interactive and playable home page logo.

Copies of Peanuts and PAC-MAN legendary Moleskine notebooks are now available complete with the LAW Creative logo to clients of the hotel marketing and leisure agency.


The three days of peace, love and music that changed the world.

LAW Creative's Woodstock books

40 years ago the Woodstock festival was a three day concert that took place in a sea of mud at Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel, New York.

Woodstock became a symbolic event of ‘this is how we want to do things!’ It was non violent and it showed that is was possible to live a more sensual and peaceful life. For 500,000 people at the concert, exactly the same number of soldiers that were then serving in Vietnam, Woodstock became the counter image to the Vietnam War!

The iconic ‘ban the bomb’ peace logo was adopted by this counter-culture movement. Interestingly for British design, this logo had already been invented ten years earlier by Gerald Holtom, a British designer and conscientious objector from West London.

28 bands played at Woodstock including Jimi Hendrix, Joan Baez (We Shall Overcome), Janis Joplin and The Who. Woodstock, became the biggest and most significant concert in history.
