Peter Lilley MP for Hitchen and Harpenden

Taking time out from a busy schedule Peter Lilley MP participated in a lively questions and answers session at LAW Creative covering pressing issues such as the economic forecast and becoming as diverse as worries by one member of staff who asked about the new train line extension in North Herts which could prove disruptive for local residents and businesses alike.

Burt's Bees – The natural product for independent pharmacies

Burt’s Bees has launched its first natural body care pre-pack into UK independent pharmacies offering a selection of ‘straight to shelf’ best selling products from the range.

Burt's Bees Marketing - Design Week

The company which celebrates its 25th birthday this year was formed by Burt Shavitz and Roxanne Quimby in Maine USA. Already widely available in the UK, Burt’s Bees is an ‘earth friendly’ natural body care products company that is committed to creating beauty and wellbeing that works in harmony with nature.

Natural ingredients are profoundly effective, better for the environment and most beneficial to overall wellbeing. Natural ingredients nurture our skin and hair with wholesome nutrients that our body chemistry is familiar with, actually working in harmony with our bodies. Studies show that 60% of what we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bodies. Choosing natural ingredients instead of potentially harmful synthetics just makes sense.

Burt’s Bees has proved to be extremely popular in the UK. Their beeswax lip balm and natural lip shimmers are already top sellers and Burt’s Bees is well represented in the majors. The company is keen to provide independent pharmacies and other outlets such as book stores and garden centres with a range of our natural products in order to make Burt’s Bees available to the widest possible audience.

The new campaign and packaging has been created by LAW Creative. Says LAW Creative Director Keith Sammels; ‘The Agency has literally been buzzing! Everyone here already knew and liked the Burt’s Bees brand. We are proud of our work on the campaign and we are pleased to be taking the range to a wider audience in the UK. We have captured the natural elements of the product within our design. All of the packaging and promotional items have been produced from recyclable material and I am sure that our targets will find the pre-packs an ideal and innovative way to offer the products for sale.’

Girl Power!

Kate Margolis and Katherine Lattaway have both recently joined our Design Team here at LAW Creative to boost the company’s design capability.

“When adding new members to our creative team, top of my list of requirements was to have several designers with almost identical names to my own!” Says Katie Douse, Head of Design. “Nicknames will be essential to save confusion. But really - it’s fantastic to have an injection of new, super talented, passionate and enthusiastic designers at the ready to tackle all of our clients growing creative requirements. We are all very excited about the expansion of the team! Go girls!”

Although they share the same initial, Kate and Katherine are very different in their approach to design, which is essential to our ever expanding team. Says Kate: “I believe, imagination is a limitless creation so I am here at LAW to bring a new and fresh style of thinking, adding to the colourful palette that already is the Law creative department!”. Katherine says: ”I’m really excited to be part of Law’s expanding, forward-thinking design team, thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome and look out for those design awards rolling in soon!”

“I liked working with LAW so much that I joined the company!”

Adam Maidment is LAW Creative’s new Head of Digital. Adam has previously worked with the Agency as a Digital Consultant. He is now responsible for implementing the Agency’s digital strategy. LAW has been extremely successful in building an impressive portfolio of digital successes on behalf of it’s clients. Many digital agencies operating in this sector have the programming skills to create e-marketing campaigns but they lack the strategic brand-building and design capabilities to ensure maximum impact and integration with other aspects of their marketing plans. LAW has delivered digital campaigns for Intercontinental Hotels Group, Holiday Inn,
G Casino, Royal Veterinary College, Goodwood Estates, David Lloyd Leisure, Mecca Bingo and many other companies.

On being asked how he's been settling in Adam said, “It's been great. There's a lot of talent here in a whole range of areas and I'm looking forward to working alongside my new colleagues. There's a real positive attitude and desire to excel... As far as digital goes, I'm looking at continuing to provide the best possible service to all our existing digital clients whilst expanding our client base and growing the digital portfolio. I'm very excited about what we can achieve here.”

Adam’s guilty secret is that he used to be a child model!

The three days of peace, love and music that changed the world.

LAW Creative's Woodstock books

40 years ago the Woodstock festival was a three day concert that took place in a sea of mud at Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel, New York.

Woodstock became a symbolic event of ‘this is how we want to do things!’ It was non violent and it showed that is was possible to live a more sensual and peaceful life. For 500,000 people at the concert, exactly the same number of soldiers that were then serving in Vietnam, Woodstock became the counter image to the Vietnam War!

The iconic ‘ban the bomb’ peace logo was adopted by this counter-culture movement. Interestingly for British design, this logo had already been invented ten years earlier by Gerald Holtom, a British designer and conscientious objector from West London.

28 bands played at Woodstock including Jimi Hendrix, Joan Baez (We Shall Overcome), Janis Joplin and The Who. Woodstock, became the biggest and most significant concert in history.

Limited edition Woodstock commemorative LAW branded notebooks by Moleskine are proving very popular with clients. Brett Sammels, LAW Creative Client Services Director says ‘everyone is enjoying this great little tribute to Peace, Love and Music!
