The concept of Virtual Reality (VR) has been about for a very long time. However, over the past few years there has been sustained interest in this area, with advancements in technology, and a natural progression in the quest to deliver more immersive experiences.

It’s appropriate that Tate Britain is currently staging its biggest ever exhibition in celebration of David Hockney, since ‘bigness’ has been a recurring theme of Hockney’s career. The title of arguably Hockney’s most famous work, focussing on a colossal spume of water climbing into the air after an unseen figure has dived into an LA swimming pool, was called was A Bigger Splash.
If you’ve been following the blog you’ll know that I’ve now been upstaged by a figure who’s small but perfectly formed and uncannily like me but who is a product of a new age in marketing. It’s a 3D print of myself created by Backface, a studio that’s refined a 3D printing process to achieve a quality that we at LAW Creative haven’t seen bettered.
Each time a brand grows globally it inevitably has to ‘crack’ new markets. This can present an incredibly lucrative opportunity, but also a tricky one. Choices that consumers make are so heavily defined by their cultural context that transferring an unfamiliar product to an entirely new audience is not without risk.
… which, of course, you can’t. Just like you can’t get a spa treatment online. Or enjoy your favourite food at a good restaurant.
